The Social Impact Assessment Guidelines is a Transport for New South Wales resource used to provide Social Impact Assessment practitioners and project teams involved in TfNSW projects. It provides direction on preparing Social Impact Assessments (SIA), governance and guidance to assist TfNSW meet its legal obligations, undertake its works to a consistent standard and achieve quality social outcomes. Djinjama worked collaboratively with the relevant Planning and Assessment team lead. We prepared guidance for the identification and assessment of potential positive and negative impacts relating to Aboriginal spiritual and cultural aspects, and on Aboriginal people and communities. This included incorporating requirements for engagement of Aboriginal Knowledge holders and the greater Aboriginal community in accordance with the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environments SIA guidelines and TfNSW policies and frameworks. Our work resulted in a review and re-authoring of the existing draft TfNSW Social Impact Assessment Guidelines.
Djinjama honours our connections to Country, community, culture and kin through our work. Djinjama’s projects actively interact with lands, waters and air, and as such we actively protect the rights of Country to be healthy in our work. We respect Traditional Custodians who have long cared for Country and aim to elevate First Voices in all our work. We are grateful to Elders and Knowledge Holders for their continued sharing of wisdom, story, language, and knowledge.
