Djinjama worked with the Parklife Metro team who won the bid for the Sydney Metro Airport line which included not only the design of the metro stations, surrounds and trains but also the operations for 15 years. Djinjama were brought in during the early stages of the project, leading and supporting the team while informing Designing with Country protocols. Culturally informed research was developed by Djinjama through continuous engagement of the Connecting with Country Working Group associated with Sydney Metro, and engagement with Dharug/Darug Elders and Knowledge Holders. Engagement also informed and guided the designs of the First Nations spaces and cultural activations for each station.
Djinjama honours our connections to Country, community, culture and kin through our work. Djinjama’s projects actively interact with lands, waters and air, and as such we actively protect the rights of Country to be healthy in our work. We respect Traditional Custodians who have long cared for Country and aim to elevate First Voices in all our work. We are grateful to Elders and Knowledge Holders for their continued sharing of wisdom, story, language, and knowledge.
