2026

Djinjama was brought onto the project to help create the new Country section for the Development Control Plan (DCP). The inclusion of the Connecting with Country Framework to the DCP created five outcomes for project teams to achieve a Caring for Country approach which included Healthy Country, Healthy Community, Protecting Aboriginal Heritage, Cultural Competency and Better Places. Added methodologies included Country Centred Design and Designing with Country. For better understanding of the unique Countries and systems that make up the Inner West, Djinjama also authored site specific overviews for each suburb within the local government area (LGA) to ensure a place-based approach when working inse areas of Country.

Our Impact: The inclusion of a Connection with Country Framework to the DCP positions these projects to consider Country when working on Country. Equipped with Country Centred Design and Designing with Country, the project team is better enabled to take a place-based approach, ensuring designs are from Country, a part of Country and is what is best for Country.
